The wedding of M. and J. | wedding photography Muscat

They are together for many years already and with Christmas he popped the question: do you want to marry me? They are moving back to the UK. And this time they go back as husband and wife. It was a beautiful wedding day. Their closest family came over from the UK to be with them on this special day. They got married at the Ghala Church. And being Scottish M. wore his kilt.

I loved the soft pink roses in the bouquet.

J. wore a sixpence in her shoe for good luck ;-). Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a lucky sixpence in her shoe. It is a famous old good luck wedding tradition. The sixpence should be placed in the brides own shoe on her wedding day, as a symbol of love, happiness and good luck. 

M. and J. I wish you the best of luck back in the UK. Thanks for letting me be part of your wedding day. You are such a lovely couple.

part two: white wedding of Y. and W.

Sorry for the image overload, but there were just so many beautiful moments, that I just had to share a lot. And even for these I had a hard time choosing which ones to put on the web... so many other great ones.

After the green wedding it was time for the white wedding. This time the venue was the Hyatt. Y. got dressed in the bridal suite, which gave us a perfect opportunity to make some nice pictures. I loved the rose petals on the bed. 

The dress was beautiful and so were the shoes ;-).



Her mom helped her to get into the dress. I always feel that is such a special moment. As a mother of two (small) girls I hope to have that moment some day....    



And here she is.... Y. you are so beautiful.





The other nice thing about the bridal suite was that close friends and family could spend some time together before the party would start. 

And here the handsome groom arrives.







And of course all their friends were there.

Green wedding of Y. and W.

They met a few years ago at a Halloween Party. And they stayed in contact ever since. As the tradition here tells two wedding days. Here are some images of their green wedding. It's was held at the Chedi and the venue was beautiful. I love the colorful flowers. And purple is my favorite color too ;).

Isn't she stunning? Here Y. walks in to the room were all her female friends and family are waiting. 

Then W. walks in and marries his bride. 



They have a lot of friends from all over the world. It was great to see the bond between them. They had this special Rarrrrr code:

We were able to sneak outside for a little while to make some nice couple pictures there.

Wedding at the Chedi

When I spoke to L. a few weeks before the wedding she still had to prepare at lot for the wedding day. But it didn't matter because for her it was all about marrying the man of her dreams. To enjoy the future with him. The wedding day was just one piece of the story. She beautifully stated we have five children between us and we want to make them part as the wedding as much as possible. I really liked that the wedding counselor asked them if they agreed on the wedding before continuing the ceremony. This family blends together seamlessly. Here a just a sneak peak of the wedding images. When Easter break is over I will put more on the blog. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Green wedding

A few weeks ago I assisted on my first Omani wedding. It was the green wedding. Most people here will have a green wedding (the religious wedding) followed by a white wedding. At the green wedding women come and have coffee, chat, eat and sing beautiful (religious) songs. All are waiting for the bride to come. I could photograph details but not the women until the bride arrives. The bride at this wedding wore a beautiful light pink dress with a veil with little diamonds on it. The bride comes in, walks to a couch which is put on a stage. Then her family members and friends will come to her, congratulate her and sit with her for a moment. At this point photographs are being made. At a certain point a group of men including the groom come in. Singing, one man sings and others will follow, like a question and answer song. The group congratulates the groom. The groom takes a seat on the couch next to his bride. The men congratulate the couple and leave. The couple will sit on the couch while people come to talk to them. And there is a buffet. And the end of the evening the couple will leave together.
