What to wear...on a photo shoot

I know this can usually give ,especially Mum, some headache. What to wear during a photo shoot? We will spend all this money on a shoot and what shall we wear?

Well, to make it easier for you I thought to talk about it a little. To take the stress out of it. And if you like we can have a chat about it before the shoot. We can even pick the clothes together. And it can be a good idea to bring different outfits. It gives you some variety in your photos.

Things to avoid are big prints. Your eyes are drown to it. It takes the attention away from the face and the eyes. And your mind will try to figure out what is written there. Some colors are more difficult to print, like very bright colors. A bright fuchsia pink can look good on screen but on print it will go a little more dull compared to a computer screen. This has to do with the printer and the tones it can print. A cobalt blue can be a bit difficult too. These things are not always a problem, but it is good that you know it on fore hand.

White shirts and jeans is always a safe choice. 

And clothes in the similair/complementary color tones can be really nice. Like brown, green and blue colors. Colors close to each other on the color wheel. And it have have different patterns. Here is an image my friend Hilke took of us. We are all in the same color range.

And as you can see my son wears his favorite t-shirt. And it has a big print on it. Sometimes rules are meant to be broken. This was his all time favorite shirt and it is nice to include it in the image. And he would not be happy to wear anything else. 

Bolder colors can also work great. Colors on the opposite way of the color wheel, like green and red, and orange and blue.

I hope this helps in choosing your outfits for a photo shoot. And remember as well. It has to be YOU. If you never wear a dress then don't wear one for the shoot. You will not be so happy with the result because the images will not really be you. Choose something close to who you are, you know what I mean. And don't 'force' your husband into wear something he doesn't want (although a little flattering won't hurt, but honey you look so great in this....;-).  

Just giving... for pancreatic cancer

I am in awe with this lady and she knows it ;-). We had once one of our long chats in the Al Fair (local supermarket in Oman) about sports. She was training for a triathlon and told me that she didn't really like it. Don't get me wrong, she does like her sports, but not so much the compition, the training together etc. And I can so relate to that. I love my running. I run my 6 K nearly every day or every other day (at least that was in Oman now in Moscow it is a whole other story ;-). But I never liked so much to train with someone else. I like to do it on my own. And so does Tina. 

And in the end she didn't do the triatlon. Her father got sick. Pancreatic cancer. Again, I could relate to that. My dad had cancer several times (Non-hodgkin). He was given up by the docters, but for some reason or the other made it through. And I am still so very thankful for that. And there my feeling to relate stopped. Her father died. 

So when she told me she was training for a Iron man 70.3:

On March 18th 2012 I shall attempt to swim, 1.9km, cycle 90km and run a Half Marathon in an Ironman 70.3 Triathlon in Singapore to raise funds for this cause. This is the only thing I can now do for my Dad. I cannot let him die without doing something for this terrible disease. Please pray that I cross the line on March 18th!!!

to raise money for research. I felt So So proud of her. Here is a woman, a daddy's girl like me, who wants to DO something about it. And if you know me, I always feel that if you want to make a difference you have to DO something. So here is a woman who doesn't particular like competition but decides to enroll in a iron man. Not just another triathlon but an Iron man!

Wesak | Muscat

I was invited to come to the Buddhist temple during Wesak. 

Wesak is the most important of the Buddhist festivals and is celebrated on the full moon in May. It celebrates the Buddha's birthday and for some Buddhists, also marks his enlightenment and death. Celebrations vary from one country to another. 

Here everybody was dressed in white. Of course I couldn't understand everything because it was in their local language, but it was really special to be there. 

Meet super Tennis talent Dear

Usually I don't mention names on the blog, but in this case I make an exception ;-). Recently I had an enjoyable afternoon collaborating with Sumitra 'Dear' Basnyat from Phuket, Thailand.

Dear is currently based in Oman continuing her development as a world ranked junior tennis player. She has brief spells training in Oman and then travels playing events in Europe and Asia.

Currently ranked 1495 and still only 14 years old, a promising future beckons for this talented Thai tennis player.

Good luck for the rest of the year Dear and will look forward to working with you again.

Sugar & Spice

Two of my friends have started "Sugar & Spice". It's a High Tea catering service. And they asked me to photograph their delicious little bites. Don't they look yummy?
